YouTube is testing the Save button for short videos, removing the Dislike button

YouTube is testing the save button for YouTube Shorts videos by hiding the dislike button. The innovation removes the possibility to quickly notify the video hosting algorithm that the video was not liked.

After clicking the new button, the video is saved to bookmarks or playlists so that you can watch them later. YouTube is testing a new interface with a limited number of YouTube Shorts users.

Google writes that the “Save” button should make it easier to add videos to bookmarks. The Dislike button has been moved to the main menu of the YouTube Shorts player. Unlike the experimental features available to YouTube Premium subscribers, random users are likely to be selected to participate in the testing of the experimental features, Neowin predicts.

The button should encourage users to add more short videos to the playlist. Given the rate at which videos change on YouTube Shorts, the add option should become useful for viewing.

Over the summer, YouTube began recommending longer videos in the YouTube Shorts feed to expand its reach.

In October, some YouTubers pointed out that the video hosting service had made it harder to skip ads. The company said that they do not hide the skip button, but only change some elements of the advertisement display.

Starting October 15, YouTube Shorts will increase from one to three minutes in length. Although the competitor of the TikTok platform already allows you to upload videos up to 10 minutes long.
