“Yandex” has completed the transfer of yandex.kz servers to Kazakhstan. The work was carried out since August of this year according to the plan agreed with the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Kazakhstan. Now yandex.kz will work on servers located inside the country,” the message reads.
The department also talked about the process of transferring servers. The team of the Kazakh division of “Yandex” delivered the necessary equipment to the country, after which it carried out load testing. According to its results, the yandex.kz portal was finally transferred to local servers.
On August 9, the local Yandex domain was suspended in Kazakhstan due to the Russian law that regulates the activity of taxis. According to it, from September 1, 2023, taxi booking services are obliged to provide the FSB with access to their databases. In addition, carriers are prohibited from talking about the facts of interaction with the agency on this issue.
The company then explained that information about the order can only be obtained by the law enforcement agencies of the country where the trip was made, and only within the limits of local legislation.
However, on August 21, “Yandex” reported that representatives of the company and the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Kazakhstan held a working meeting at which they decided to move the servers to the territory of the republic.
