Miniature personal computers are an excellent choice for any category of users, including corporate ones. Such devices take up minimal space on the desktop. Moreover, most can be fixed on the back cover of the monitor. There are devices that serve only to perform office tasks, others, much more powerful, allow you to play modern games. Today we will consider a device that is no longer a “typewriter”, but also not a gaming PC. This is a device with DDR5 and a good set of features.

What kind of device is this?

It looks quite ordinary – the developers did not add LED lighting or any design refinements. Geekom Mini Air12 is similar to Intel NUCs, which, by the way, are no longer manufactured by Intel itself.

It offers a number of interesting features thanks to the Intel N100 processor with Alder Lake-N architecture and a three-year warranty. According to the developers, the mini-PC can be useful both for ordinary users and in the office – for office tasks or video surveillance.

The dimensions of the device are small – they are 117×112×34.2 mm. The case is plastic, has active cooling. But the mini PC is quite quiet. As for the processor, its operating frequency is 3.3 GHz, the graphics are built-in Intel UHD.

Here is the list of ports and connectors:

  • 1 × USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 × 1 port (10 Gbit/s data only)

Capabilities and performance

Owners who have already tested the device in operation claim that there are no problems with it – all components work as stated. This applies to both the wireless module and ports, connectors, etc. Here are the results of a test conducted by one of the owners of the device.

Test results

Mini Air12 can simultaneously work with three displays with a resolution of up to 8K. This is stated by the manufacturer. But only the DisplayPort and USB-C ports actually support 8K/30Hz displays. The HDMI port works with screen modes up to 4K/60Hz.

A very standard technique was used to test the integrated graphics: various YouTube videos were played in Edge and Chrome on Windows at resolutions up to 8K@60. All three ports for working with video were used: HDMI, mini DP and USB-C.

There were no serious problems, but sometimes frame drops occurred. In addition, testing was performed with viewing YouTube videos played using Chrome only through the USB-C port, using 4K@30, 4K@60, 8K@30 and 8K@60 resolutions. There were no problems – the image played smoothly.

The device heated up a little, but the maximum parameters were not high – 67.94 ° C for the processor and 53 ° C for the iGPU. The active cooling system mentioned above is not very noisy, so it does not interfere with work.

What else?

One of the main advantages of this model is its low cost and good price/performance ratio. The device mentioned in the review costs $249.

The device is ideal for typical office tasks of working with e-mail, surfing the net, using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You can also watch videos, play not very difficult games, etc. In general, the device is universal.
