Ways to download Nvidia drivers if access to the manufacturer’s main site is blocked
On the evening of October 23, 2024, users from the Russian Federation encountered a geolocation block (Access Forbidden) from the ability to download Nvidia drivers from the main website of the video card manufacturer. Nor could it be done through the company’s official Geforce Experience program. If using a VPN with an IP address of another country, the drivers were downloaded without restrictions (this block is not bypassed with Zapret or Goodbye DPI). Nvidia did not comment on the failure. According to the error message, the incident occurred through the Edgecast WAF firewall. In a few hours, the geoblocking was removed.
While the block was in place, users found ways to download Nvidia drivers while restricting access to the manufacturer’s main site:
-
From other Nvidia sites: geforce[.]cn, geforce[.]co.kr, geforce[.]co.uk, geforce[.]com, geforce[.]com.tw.
-
Microsoft update directory: there you need to write the name of the video card and find new drivers. Updates are not frequent, but reliable.
-
Third-party aggregators: techpowerup, videocardz.
