The Tesla Cybertruck’s first trips revealed the durability of the body after an accident and the ability to recharge the Rivian R1T

The first trips on the Tesla Cybertruck with real buyers revealed the strength of the body of the electric pickup after the accident with the Toyota Corolla and the possibility of recharging the Rivian R1T from the car’s on-board network.

The media reported that the first accident involving a Cybertruck occurred in a suburban area near Palo Alto, California. A 2009 Toyota Corolla sedan hit the new electric pickup almost head-on and then tangentially. The driver of a Japanese foreign car for an unknown reason pulled over to the right side of the road, hit a dirt embankment, then went to the left and drove into the oncoming lane where the Cybertruck was driving.

As a result, the electric pickup’s side airbags went off, and its driver was slightly injured and refused hospitalization. In total, there were three people in the car.

The Corolla sustained significant front-end damage and was thrown onto the side of the road after hitting a heavy Cybertruck.

According to the manufacturer’s description, the Cybertruck has a nearly impenetrable exoskeleton. Each of its components, from ultra-hard cold-rolled 30X stainless steel to armored glass, ensures the strength and durability of the electric vehicle. The panels of the bottom of the car are made of hydroformed aluminum.

In addition to the unpleasant incident on the road, other first Cybertruck buyers tested the possibility of fast charging using an external outlet on board the electric pickup. The Tesla Cybertruck’s cargo area has several power outlets, including a 240-volt outlet rated at 12 kW that can connect a variety of electrical appliances and even charge other vehicles with a Level 2 mobile charger adapter.

On November 30, 2023, the Tesla Cybertruck went on sale. The cost of an electric pickup truck starts at $61,000, the range starts at 400 km, deliveries to the first buyers will begin in 2024. Characteristics of the electric pickup in the maximum Cyberbeast configuration (for $100,000): acceleration time to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, maximum speed of 210 km/h, power of 845 hp. (630 kW), battery capacity 123 kW h, range 547 km.
