The Russian Federation will create a National Dictionary Fund – an open resource with data from dictionaries of the Russian language for three centuries
The Government of Russia submitted to the State Duma Bill No. 538215-8 (“On Amendments to the Federal Law “On the State Language of the Russian Federation”), which proposes to create the National Dictionary Fund — an open digital resource that will collect data from Russian language dictionaries for the last three century.
In the explanatory note to the draft law, it is clarified that the new resource on the basis of the linguistic DIC “National Vocabulary Fund” will allow solving scientific, educational and practical tasks. In particular, the resource will help users check their knowledge of the Russian language and avoid mistakes, the document says.
In addition, the explanatory note states that the National Dictionary Foundation will allow users to obtain information about the spelling and pronunciation of words, stress placement with possible variants in historical dynamics, and the meaning system of the word being studied. The platform based on the ICE “National Vocabulary Fund” will become a publicly accessible and verified source of information about the modern Russian language, the document accompanying the draft law states.
