The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to include smartphones, landlines and laptops in the labeling experiment from February 29

The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to include smartphones, landlines and laptops in the second stage of the experiment on marking certain types of radio-electronic products. The draft resolution has already been published on the federal portal. The second stage begins on February 29, 2024.

The experiment on marking radio electronic products started in Russia on December 1, 2023. The decision to conduct the experiment was made by the Russian government. It is divided into three stages. The approved end date of the experiment is February 28, 2025. In the draft resolution of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it is proposed to extend it until August 31, 2025.

“The marking of consumer electronics is designed to protect Russian citizens from buying fakes, as well as to cut off state procurement of manufacturers who only pretend to produce goods in Russia. This will provide a serious incentive for the development of domestic production of equipment,” said Vasyl Shpak, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The agency emphasized that the experiment on marking of radio-electronic products will not affect its cost, since the equipment for the time of its implementation and the marking codes are provided to manufacturers free of charge.
