The Ministry of Digitization will deal with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation regarding the transfer of servers of foreign Internet gaming companies to the Russian Federation

On October 21, 2023, the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Maksut Shadayev, told the media that the agency would deal with the Russian President’s directive to transfer the servers of foreign internet gaming companies to the Russian Federation.

“We have received the president’s order, now we will work on it,” Shadayev explained.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs noted that the servers of some Russian game developers are already localized in Russia. “Russian game developers have servers in Russia. “Yandex”, for example, makes a lot of games, – added Shadayev.

On October 19, 2023, at a meeting of the Sports Development Council, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, was offered to block online games, including those with “anti-state values”, in the *.com domain. The president agreed that the servers of all games should be located in Russia.

“Indeed, the servers should be with us. We love both Canada and the USA, but to make money from us, especially in such a negative way for us: why do we allow this?” Putin said. He emphasized that “it is necessary not to work out, but to take” concrete steps to solve this issue. “And it is necessary to include it in a single regulator,” – instructed the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the mass media, citing data from the Video Game Industry Development Organization (RVI), reported that 50 new game studios had opened in Russia over the past 18 months.

Recently, the Nau Engine project team updated the project roadmap and announced the start date of closed alpha testing of the game engine. Nau Engine closed alpha testing will run from November 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024. An open beta test is planned until the end of 2024. At this stage, anyone who wants to can take part in the testing. Nau Engine will be released by the end of 2025.

An independent team of experts in the field of development and the gaming community is engaged in the creation of the domestic game engine Nau Engine. VK acts as an investor and curator of the project.
