The first metro station at the airport was opened in Russia

On September 6, two new metro stations of the Solntsevskaya line were opened in Moscow: “Pikhtino” and “Vnukovo Airport”. It became the first airport metro station in Russia. Now you can get there from the city center without changing to other public transport.

The design of the new stations is dedicated to aviation, the press service of the capital building complex reported. “At the same time, each of the two stations will acquaint passengers with various aspects of the development of Russian aircraft construction,” said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Andriy Bochkaryev.

By metro, it will take 40 minutes from the “Business Center” to the Vnukovo airport, and 23 minutes from the nearest BKL station “Michurinsky Prospekt”. Now the travel time from the city to the airport will be almost halved, the city hall said. The fare on the “Troika” card is standard – 50 rubles.

The artistic design of the station was dedicated to civil aircraft of the Tupolev design bureau, named after the airport.
