The developer designed a docking station for iPhone based on the works of Dieter Rams

Developer Fatih Arslan (Fatih Arslan) talked about his project of a docking station for iPhone based on the works of Dieter Rams. The device is inspired by the Braun BC21 alarm clock and combines several things at once: a charging station, a bedside clock and a basket for storing small items.

Dieter Rams is a German industrial designer who has been the leading designer of the Braun company for more than 30 consecutive years. Developer Fatih Arslan likes his work, so he has long been looking for an original Braun DN 40 alarm clock to place on his bedside table. In early fall, he saw a video from a blogger who designed an iPhone docking station based on the DN40 design. Arslan decided that he wanted to repeat the project, but adapting it for himself.

The first version of the docking station

The main goal was to combine a storage basket, a charging station and a watch in one device. Therefore, it was decided to take the design of the Braun BC21 alarm clock as a basis and refine it. Thus, a tray for things appeared on the back of the docking station, and on the front – a place for an iPhone and a seat for MagSafe wireless charging.

Version with improvements

After several versions of the docking station, Arslan decided to make the design more rounded and with a bright color for the Braun 550 hair dryer. He also provided a channel for the MagSafe cable so that it would hold well and not get in the way.

The final version

The final model of the docking station is available under the Digital File License and published on the Gumroad portal. Anyone can download it and print it for themselves. The docking station is compatible with iPhone 16 Pro, 15 Pro and 14 Pro. For other models, you will have to change the dimensions.
