Tesla opened access to the Full Self-Driving autopilot for some customers on the Cybertruck
Tesla has included Full-Self Driving software on some Cybertrucks. According to a post on the cybertruckowners club forum, access to FSD (Supervised) appeared as part of the 2024.32.20 update. The FSD is available in an “early access” format for members of the eligible Tesla program. The company has not yet announced when FSD will be enabled for all Cybertruck owners.
As part of the update, FSD version 12.5.5 is available, which is the latest version of the software. Most Tesla cars are currently running on FSD 12.5.4.
Tesla has opened FSD for the Cybertruck 11 months after the first deliveries of the car began. By comparison, the Model 3 and Model Y received Tesla’s Autopilot or FSD right after release. The reason for the pause is that the Cybertruck’s design and software is very different from other Tesla vehicles, Electrek explains.
At the beginning of September, Cybertruck got access to the parking function. At the same time, Tesla said that FSD 13 will be released in October with new features and security improvements. According to Electrek, the company is expected to increase the distance a car can travel without the need for human intervention. Earlier research showed that a driver should take control once every 21 kilometers on average.
Tesla also said FSD will be available in China and Europe in the first quarter of next year, although both options are subject to regulatory approval.
