SpaceX has successfully launched the world’s largest commercial satellite into orbit

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket successfully launched the world’s largest commercial communication satellite, Jupiter 3. Its weight is more than 9 tons.

Bloomberg writes about it.

The launch of the rocket took place at 06:04 Kyiv time from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On board the rocket was only a super-heavy satellite, which will provide Internet to the countries of North and South America, creating a channel with a maximum bandwidth of 500 Gbit/s.

The satellite itself was deployed approximately three and a half hours after launch.

Jupiter 3 weighs more than nine metric tons and is about the size of a bus.

The satellite will be operated by Hughes Network Systems, which is a division of satellite communications company EchoStar Corp.

For SpaceX, this is the 51st mission in 2023, and for Falcon Heavy – the third flight.

Just a day earlier, SpaceX launched another Falcon 9 rocket from another of the company’s launch pads in Florida with a new batch of Starlink internet satellites on board
