Rules and nuances of negotiating project terms with freelancers

Coordination of conditions is a stage that largely determines the positive result of cooperation. If, before starting work on the project, all the nuances are discussed, this will allow you to get the result that the customer is counting on. We will suggest what needs to be taken into account at the stage of agreeing on the terms of the project with the contractor.

Why is it important to agree on terms before starting work?

After the customer has chosen the contractor, the project proceeds to the next stage – the negotiation of conditions. All correspondence and clarification of details takes place in the Project Workspace. Why is it important to discuss all conditions before starting work on a project?

If at the beginning not all the details were indicated in the TS, and the amount of work turns out to be more, this may affect the final cost and timing of the project. In addition, you need to make sure that the client and the freelancer have the same understanding of the conditions and the end result, so that after the completion of the work, expectations coincide with reality. Provide the contractor with all the additional information upon his request, explain, attach examples of work, detail tasks and pay attention to points important for the successful completion of the project.

Discuss all the nuances before starting cooperation, and make changes in the Project Workspace. This will avoid possible disagreements and misunderstandings in the course of the work. If both parties are satisfied with the terms, click the “Accept Terms” button.

Pay attention: After the customer and the freelancer have agreed on all the nuances and accepted the terms of the project, it is no longer possible to change the amount and deadlines. Then the customer reserves the payment and only after that the freelancer starts working on the project.

What nuances need to be discussed in the Project Workspace

What to pay attention to and what nuances should definitely be discussed in the Project Workspace:

  1. Attach examples of the work you like or show clearly what result you want to get. For example, design in a certain style, file format, prototypes that can be taken as a basis. Attaching files is easy directly in the Workspace.

Perhaps you will be inspired by the best work of our freelancers.

  2. Provide additional materials and data that allow the freelancer to assess the volume and complexity of the work. This depends on the final cost and the timing of the task.
  3. Describe the details that the contractor needs to pay attention to when working on the project.
  4. Discuss what tools and applications will be used in the work.
  5. Agree in what form the performer should hand over the work and by what parameters you will evaluate it.
  6. Determine the frequency of communications. If it is important for you to receive any information or intermediate results from a freelancer throughout the entire cooperation, agree on this in advance.
  7. If you want to get the first draft before the deadline, highlight it. For example, the project has a deadline of May 30, and you need a preliminary result of May 20 to check the correctness of the work or have time to make a correction. If this is not specified in advance, the contractor can send the work to the deadline specified in the project, that is, May 30th.

Note: all approvals need to be fixed only in the Workspace. In the event of a dispute, arbitration will only take into account correspondence in the Project Workspace.

We hope that our recommendations will help you effectively implement your task and take into account all the nuances when agreeing on conditions with the contractor. We wish you productive and comfortable work on the service!
