Rosstandart will develop GOST for marketplaces

The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) is developing GOST for online stores, TASS reports with reference to the head of the agency, Anton Shalayev. He told about this at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mykhailo Mishustin.

According to Shalayev, the department is currently developing GOST for marketplaces and e-commerce. Also, Rosstandart has already made changes to the basic GOST on trade, which includes the concept of “Internet trade”.

Shalaev did not disclose other details of work on GOST for marketplaces.

At the end of September, State Duma deputies made amendments to the laws “On the basics of state regulation of trade activities” and “On the protection of consumer rights”, which regulate the operation of marketplaces. In particular, the concept of “marketplace” will appear in the law, and the trading platforms themselves will be responsible for the reliability of the posted information.

In November, industry participants, including Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex.Market, announced the risks posed by the bill. Thus, Ozon believes that the project will force the owners of online trading sites to increase commissions for sellers and intermediaries a year in advance, and this, in turn, may affect the cost of the final products.
