[recovery mode] How to “cut” the budget of a SCRUM project by removing redundant roles

Short description

SCRUM has become the most popular methodology for software development in Russia and the former USSR, dominating among flexible and iterative production paradigms. It has been consistently growing in popularity since 2013 and is now the main development methodology for the best Russian software vendors. However, there are still areas of the industry where engineers do not know anything about SCRUM. Commercial technology has chosen SCRUM, but there may be challenges such as the need to reduce team costs during difficult times for business customers.

[recovery mode] How to “cut” the budget of a SCRUM project by removing redundant roles

SCRUM in Russia, as well as in the territory of the entire former USSR, has become the most popular software development methodology not only among any “flexible” variations and even among all iterative production paradigms. Indeed, since 2013, research by SSC consultants has consistently shown:

1. SCRUM has been growing in popularity and since 2017 clearly dominates among “flexible” methodologies: some of them (such as XP) do not arouse enthusiasm in large organizations, some of them (for example, KANBAN) are not implemented anywhere except among sub subjective feelings of individual CEOs of individual web studios;

2. By 2020, SCRUM has become the main development methodology for the best Russian software vendors both to ensure product quality criteria and from the point of view of optimizing productivity and team loading.

Of course, there are still areas of the Russian IT industry where engineers don’t know anything about SCRUM, but let’s be honest: they don’t know anything about software engineering in general in the 20s of our century, and their software could have been created in the 20s and even 30 years ago: after all, these are the very tasks of automation for airplanes, missiles and machines, which themselves perfectly “remember” the 20th century. Commercial technology has chosen the SCRUM methodology and consistently overcomes various complexities of this paradigm. One of the tasks that regularly arises is the need to reduce the cost of the team during “difficult” times for business customers.
