Peloton will continue to support Apple GymKit
Sports equipment maker Peloton said it will continue to support Apple’s GymKit feature, which syncs data from the company’s gadgets with Apple Health.
Last week, the company announced that it would end support for Apple’s GymKit. Peloton had planned to offer its own Peloton One-Tap app to replace GymKit, but faced criticism from users. Some noted, that Gymkit support was offered together with the $2,500 Bike + simulator, and for many it became one of the important pluses of the purchase. Peloton representatives assuredThat the integration will not stop.
Peloton One-Tap tracks distance, speed and heart rate. GymKit allows you to track Apple Health and other parameters, such as pedaling speed.
Peloton previously rolled out support for third-party treadmills in its app. This offer is only available to $24 per month Peloton App Plus subscribers. To pair with a fitness device, launch Tread in the Peloton app, select a treadmill from the list, and connect it. A green tick will be an indicator of a successful connection of the device.
Peloton notes that users have the ability to track incline, speed, pace and distance through the app during workouts. After the end of the session, the service will show calorie consumption and other indicators. Exercises on third-party treadmills will also count towards tests and results.
