offered by manufacturers in March 2023. 5 models for home and office

Many of us like miniature PCs – they have many advantages, including silence or just low noise level for models with active cooling, plus the ability to put the device out of sight by hanging it on the back cover of the monitor. In the spring of 2023, manufacturers presented several interesting models. Among them, as always, are productive devices and those that can be used as workhorses. Details – under the cat.

Minisforum NAB6

The company Minisforum NAB6 produces miniature PCs more often than many other manufacturers, and among them there are quite inexpensive devices. The latest model is the Minisforum NAB6, which costs just $360 for a system without disk and RAM. At the same time, the device is quite productive, as it is based on the Core i7-12650H CPU. Here are its characteristics:

  • The number of cores is 10.
  • The maximum frequency is 4.7 GHz.
  • Intel UHD graphics.
  • Cache – 24 MB.

As for the more equipped model, with a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM, you will have to pay $450. There is a cooling system with a small cooler for the SSD.

Ports and connectors:

  • 2 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
  • 2 x HDMI
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Type-C (with DisplayPort and Power Delivery)
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Type-C port (with DisplayPort)
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C (data-only)
  • 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio
  • 1 x meal

It must be said that the developers took good care of cooling the device, including heat pipes and a cooler. Another thing implemented with care for the user is the possibility of upgrading. It is quite simple to do, so even a not very experienced user will be able to improve the characteristics of his device. No screwdrivers or other tools are needed to remove the cover – you just need to press it.

ASRock DeskMini 4205

It is impossible to call a productive mini-PC – because it is based on Celeron 4205U. This is a 14-nanometer processor of the Whiskey Lake line, which are suitable for solving not particularly productive tasks.

As for ports and connectors, the device is equipped with two DDR4 memory slots, space for four drives, including two 2.5-inch formats, and a pretty good set of ports: RJ45 (x2), DisplayPort 1.2, VGA, USB-C 3.2, USB 3.2 (x3), USB 2.0 (x2). Here is the full list:
