At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​Nvidia presented another batch video cards for portable devices. But this time not gaming, but professional. They became them RTX 500 and RTX 1000 based on the Ada Lovelace microarchitecture. Despite the focus on laptops, both models can offer increased graphics performance and, which is especially relevant in 2024, deep support for artificial intelligence.

Inexpensive video cards for working laptops

RTX 500 and 1000 are entry-level graphics cards, and they are also aimed exclusively at laptops. Therefore, Nvidia engineers faced a difficult task. The company has had no shortage of desktop adapters aimed at development IIBut the productivity of entry-level portable solutions was objectively lacking. They needed to endow them with sufficient performance to work with generative neural networks at minimum sizes and low TGP.

Nvidia has tried to make sure that they do not so much complement the CPU in terms of performance as they relieve it. Built-in neuroprocessors, which are the basis of the new adapters, allow you to noticeably unload the CPU, reducing the computational load placed on it when working with models such as Stable Diffusion by 15-20%.

It is possible that in fact the number of people willing to use the new GPUs will increase and it will be possible to buy them even in Russia.
