Microsoft is testing the option to reinstall Windows 11 itself through the Windows Update Center

Microsoft, in the new beta build of Windows 11, began testing the option to reinstall (restore the working build) the OS itself through the Windows Update Center without losing files, documents, images, videos or previously installed programs. In this case, the user can activate this process practically in one click, and not only through the Media Creation Tool.

A new option “Troubleshooting with Windows Update” has appeared in Windows 11 testers in the “Settings” / “System Recovery” section. According to the description of this app, you can “reinstall your current version of Windows 11 (apps, files, and settings will be preserved)” in minutes.

According to Microsoft’s support document, reinstalling the OS using Windows Update should not delete any files, settings, or programs. It’s worth noting that your PC may need to complete current updates before you can start reinstalling Windows 11 using Windows Update.
