Microsoft has introduced an update to Sticky Notes for Windows

Microsoft has introduced a “major update” to Sticky Notes, a quick note-taking program in modern versions of Windows. It is available for testing in a previous version in OneNote.

Microsoft notes that this is only the first phase of testing, and future updates will allow Sticky Notes to run separately from OneNote. The updated program can be pinned to the taskbar or launched using the new Win + Alt + S shortcut.

Sticky Notes has a feature that makes it easier to write notes and take screenshots of web pages, programs, and documents. When creating a screenshot, the program will associate it with the source, which will allow you to return to the source with one click of the mouse.

In Sticky Notes, you can still create multiple notes, change their colors, format the text inside, and sync them between devices using your Microsoft account.

There is no mention of Copilot or other AI-based features in the update.

Sticky Notes is distributed to Microsoft 365 Insiders in a previous version. To access it, you need OneNote for Windows version 2402 with build number 17328.20000 or later.

In January, Microsoft released a patch for OneNote 2016 that fixes a crash related to the synchronization of newer versions of notebooks.
