Meta* will build a data center to work with AI worth $800 million

Meta* will build a $800 million data center with an area of 65,000 square meters in River Ridge, Jeffersonville (Indiana, USA)2, which is expected to use robots with AI. The facility is planned to be equipped with direct-to-chip liquid cooling equipment designed to support the high-cost computing needs of AI. The project is positioned as a “green data center”, and after launch, the data center should be powered by 100% renewable energy.

The new data center is the company’s 22nd data center in the world and 18th in the USA. It is expected that it will start working no earlier than 2026. Construction will begin this month. Once operational, the data center will support about 100 high-paying jobs and another 1,250 at peak construction.

As part of the agreement with the state of Indiana, Meta* will receive an exemption from state sales tax for the next 35 years in the amount of at least $800 million. For each additional $800 million of investment in the facility, the company will be entitled to an additional grace period of 5 years (up to 50 years in total).
