Lenovo will release a more environmentally friendly ThinkPad with extended maintainability

Lenovo announced the ThinkPad L and X13 series notebook lines with artificial intelligence options, improved maintainability and greener components.

The new models received several form factors, including 13-, 14- and 16-inch. A 5-megapixel camera with a higher resolution will provide more opportunities for video conferencing and content creation. The laptops will have displays with an aspect ratio of 16:10, they will receive up to 64 GB of RAM and improvements in the cooling system. Some models support Wi-Fi 7 and 4G LTE, or 5G Sub6.

The laptops are equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro or AMD Ryzen PRO 7030 Series.

The new ThinkPads support the new 3M4 technology, which increases the brightness of the display while reducing power consumption. ThinkPad T14 Gen 5, T14s Gen 5 and ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 are equipped with a 3M Optical Film solution created using DBEF5 technology. This optical film provides a display brightness of up to 400 nits while reducing power consumption by up to 16%.

The laptops also include new tactile keyboard markings for blind users.

The ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 and L16 Gen 1 have received improved serviceability with iFixit giving it a 9 out of 10. Users can replace the DIMMs, keyboard, solid state drives and WWAN themselves.

Finally, laptops received neural processors (NPUs) for the advanced capabilities of Intel Core Ultra artificial intelligence. They will support more than a hundred AI-enabled apps, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Lightroom, and Studio Effects.

Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 1 are available with AMD Ryzen PRO 7030 series processors that increase the efficiency of complex business operations. With up to eight high-performance computing cores, these processors enable multitasking, and with integrated AMD Radeon graphics, enhanced rendering performance, smooth 4K streaming and support for multiple displays. Integrating AMD PRO technologies with Lenovo ThinkShield solutions improves security protocols, simplifies management, and helps improve ThinkPad stability and reliability.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 i Gen 5 will be available in the US from April 2024 and will start at $1,179, while the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 with AMD will start at $999.
