In Monaco, a telecom operator will build a data center in the basement of a residential building

Telecom operator Monaco Telecom will build a new data center in the basement of a residential building. The municipal council of the principality has already approved the project, writes Datacenter Dynamics.

According to the project, a 10-story residential building will be built on a plot with an area of ​​1,100 m2. The complex with 35 apartments will be called Larvotto Supérieur, its total cost will be €45 million. The project was agreed within the framework of the National Housing Plan of Monaco.

The new data center with a total area of ​​1,550 m2 will occupy two of the four underground floors of the building. Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the building, and the facility itself will be connected to the SeaWergie Thalasso-Thermal Network (STTN), which uses seawater for heating and cooling.

Construction of the building with a data center in the basement will begin in March, and work is planned to be completed in 2027.

Monaco Telecom is jointly owned by the Principality of Monaco and Iliad owner Xavier Neill. This company is currently the operator of three date centers in the country.
