in 2023, the number of Game Pass subscribers increased by 13% and amounted to 33.3 million
The number of Xbox Game Pass subscription users amounted to 33.3 million people by the end of 2023, excluding users of the Xbox Game Pass Core service (previously this tariff was called Xbox Live Gold), the IGN portal reports with reference to analyst data.
Analysts say Xbox Game Pass growth has slowed. So, in April 2020, 10 million people signed up for Game Pass, by September of the same year, this number increased to 15 million, and in January 2022, 25 million players used the service. In 2023, the increase was only 13%, while in 2022 this indicator was 15%.
The majority of subscribers (55%) use the Ultimate plan, which is platform-agnostic.
Omdia senior analyst James Markwirter says the pace of Game Pass adoption is slowing, although Microsoft has claimed growth thanks to the repositioning of Xbox Live Gold as the base price of Xbox Game Pass.
At the same time, Microsoft itself does not report on the success of Game Pass since last year. Similarly, with the sale of consoles, official statistics about which the corporation stopped providing even earlier.
IGN notes that it’s not entirely clear how accurate the analysts’ figures are, but last August, Xbox senior director of marketing Craig McNary revealed that Game Pass had more than 30 million people signed up.
