GitHub updated lists of tasks and tables of projects in repositories

Short description

GitHub has updated its task lists and project tables for easier editing. Project tables can now have multiple cells edited at once, with hotkeys enabling fast copying, pasting and selecting of adjacent or non-adjacent cells. Task lists now include a drag-and-drop feature, and Tracked By and Tracks columns are updated instantly, having previously taken several minutes. Other changes include the addition of a confirmation dialog for deleting task lists, a bug fix for the display of long titles and the prevention of completion data in the Tracks column from hanging during loading.

GitHub updated lists of tasks and tables of projects in repositories

GitHub introduced updates to the task lists and project tables in the repositories. Now users can edit several cells at the same time and work with checklists faster.

Tables of projects received the ability to edit several cells at the same time. You can select the desired area by selecting it with the mouse. There are also hot keys:

  • copy the value Ctrl+C or ⌘+C for macOS;

  • select nearby cells Shift;

  • select non-adjacent cells Ctrl or ;

  • insert value – Ctrl+V or ⌘+V.

Tasks in lists can now be dragged with the mouse. The GitHub development team emphasized that this will speed up editing several times. Also Tracked by and Tracks columns are now updated instantly. Previously, it could take several minutes.

Other changes in task lists:

  • added a confirmation dialog when selecting the “Delete task list” option;

  • fixed the error with the display of long titles;

  • sometimes tasks would return to their previous state after completion, now this bug has been fixed;

  • completion data in the Tracks column no longer hangs in the loading state.
