Galaxy AI won’t be free for long. That’s when you’ll start paying for it

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is the big event this week. Samsung showed off a number of impressive AI features, including Live Translate, Interpreter, Instant Slow-Mo, and more.

But you didn’t think they were all free, did you? Is not it? These the features are free for now, but eventually you’ll have to pay to keep access to Galaxy AI, Mashable reports.

According to the fine print on the official Galaxy S24 page, Galaxy AI will only be free for users until the end of next year.

“Galaxy AI features will be available for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply to AI features provided by third parties.” – said in Samsung.

In other words, if you buy a Samsung Galaxy S24 phone now, you’ll get Galaxy AI for free for 2 years. However, in 2026, be prepared to pay.

The company did not disclose the price of the Galaxy AI. It is also not yet known whether Galaxy AI will be offered to users as a subscription. However, it’s worth noting that the AI benefits featured in the Google Pixel 8, including the Magic Editor, are packaged as a subscription for Google One users.

Galaxy AI’s two-year free service is a great marketing tactic. If Galaxy AI enters the daily lives of Galaxy users and suddenly becomes unavailable in 2026, many of them will pay to keep the AI-powered service on their phones.
