Fitbit users will not be able to download third-party apps or watch faces to the EU. The change will take effect in June 2024.

“After carefully evaluating the impact of the new regulatory requirements, we have decided to remove third-party apps and watches from the Fitbit app gallery for users in the European Economic Area in June 2024. You can continue to download and install third-party apps and watch faces until this date. After that, you’ll have access to a number of Fitbit and Google apps. Users in other countries will not be affected by these changes,” explained Google.

The policy update will affect owners of Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Versa 3, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Versa Lite, Fitbit Versa, Fitbit Ionic.

Last April, Google shut down access to Fitbit Studio, a tool for creating apps and watch faces for wearable devices.
