Apple has revealed details about the choice of default web browser in iOS 17.4
Apple has announced that iPhone users in the EU will be able to choose their default web browser when they first open Safari after upgrading to iOS 17.4. The company has now shared more detailed information about the process, reports 9to5mac.
Apple says that a pop-up message in iOS 17.4 will show a list of the top 12 browsers from the App Store in the user’s country. This list will be presented in a random order for each iPhone owner.
In addition to making it easier for users to set their default browser, iOS 17.4 will also allow the use of third-party browsers other than Safari for the first time. Again, these changes only apply in the European Union.
Here’s the full breakdown of browser options that will be included in this release in iOS 17.4 in the European Union, based on popularity in the App Store.
