AI from Apple: Apple Keyframer animation generator
Apple has announced an innovative new AI tool that can allow anyone to create animations. Apple Keyframer is an AI-powered animation generator that requires nothing more than an image and text instructions.
This comes just days after the company introduced MGIE, a way to edit photos using text commands, reports 9to5 mac.com.
Apple has long been criticized for lagging behind in the field of AI. But now it’s becoming increasingly clear that the company is quietly working on a wide range of AI projects and won’t announce a product until it’s ready to go.
Apple Keyframe is an AI animation tool that allows users to take a single image and then use natural language text to tell the system exactly what the animation should be.
You can, for example, take a static image of the planet Saturn and give a command “Make the planet go round.”
You can also use Keyframe to create graphic ideas. For example, using an image of stars and the command “Create three designs where the stars twinkle”.
Apple sees its target audience as graphic designers, who will use it to quickly test ideas before working on them in the usual way.
The company claims that Keyframer is more powerful than existing tools, as you can refine ideas by using more textual hints or by manually editing AI-generated CSS code.
Keyframer can be useful to many more people than designers and animators. For example, a small business that needs social media content can take a static product shot or other related image and quickly and easily create engaging video content for Instagram or TikTok.
Both MGIE and Keyframer are currently in their very early stages, so they likely won’t be part of the expected big AI rollout in the biggest iOS update later this year.
We previously reported that Apple is preparing to buy an AI startup with advanced privacy technology for Apple Vision Pro.
