Hello everybody! We continue to prepare for you issues of Open Mic, a section where anyone can speak on any (almost) topic.

The third issue is dedicated to staff engagement and motivation. It is not always clear-cut and always a relevant topic, especially for managers. Serhiy Kurbatov, an experienced manager, former head of the department at “Sportmaster”, and now head of management at a large federal retailer of the Russian Federation, shared his expertise and analyzed the results of the workshop using a specific example.

I will throw in for your reflection some questions and theses that were voiced in the report:

  • Are motivation and engagement the same or not?

  • Is the salvation of those involved in the hands of those involved?

  • We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

  • What should we do to make it worse?
