5 interesting models for all occasions
Hello, Habre! Unfortunately, the holidays are over, so the work period has arrived. Well, normal tools are needed for work. These are, for example, miniature PCs that are developed by various manufacturers. This year, several interesting models have already appeared, which are worth talking about. Details – under the cat.
This miniature desktop PC is designed by a company that usually makes portable gaming devices. The model in question is powerful enough to cope with not the “hardest” games, despite the fact that it does not have discrete graphics.
The body of the device is made in a retro style, so that it can be recalled on the NES and SNES. You can judge how successful the company’s idea was from the photo above. But in general, everything is quite nice.
The hardware platform is based on the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor with 8 AMD Zen 4 cores. The maximum operating frequency is 5.1 GHz. This chip is quite often installed in gaming computers. Integrated graphics – Radeon 780M GPU, a good solution for budget systems that are designed to work with graphics, videos and run games. Probably, the system will not pull modern titles, but it is suitable for most not the most resource-intensive games.
By the way, it is responsible for the game component in the Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG portable game consoles. So if you need something inexpensive to play on, the AYANEO AM02 is the perfect fit.
Another distinctive feature of the device is a small built-in touchscreen that shows the time or other data the user needs. On the side panels of the device there are various ports and connectors, including HDMI, USB, Ethernet.
It is not yet known how much the device will cost and when it will go on sale.
Another interesting model, with more or less normal performance and a price of only $300. For this price, you can get a model with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor (Zen 3+ CPU and RDNA 2 graphics). For a slightly higher price of $370, you can get a device with a Ryzen 7 7840HS (Zen 4 + RDNA 3) chip.
There are several purchase options — either without a drive and RAM, or with them, but then the price will be higher. The device supports up to 64 GB of RAM. There is an M.2 2280 slot and a connector for a regular hard drive or SSD.
List of ports and connectors:
- 1 x USB-C
- 3 x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2 x HDMI
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
As for wireless connectivity, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity is supported. The dimensions of the mini-PC are 136 x 128 x 52 mm. Among the interesting features is the LED lighting of the entire body. It can be configured or disabled altogether if this option is not required.
Asus ExpertCenter PN65
The model from ASUS does not have any lighting or screens, as in previous devices, but it is a good workhorse. The size of the device is 130 x 120 x 58. There are two chip variants to choose from – Intel Core Ultra 5125H or Core Ultra 7155H. They both have integrated graphics, but the Core Ultra 7 has more CPU and GPU cores, so it’s more powerful.
In all other respects, the devices do not differ. Here is the list of ports and connectors:
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
- 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2 x HDMI
- 1 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x DC power input
By the way, there is another configurable port, here you can choose HDMI, DisplayPort 1.4, VGA, 2.5 GbE Ethernet or RS-232 COM.
Inside there are two slots for DDR5 memory, two M.2 2280 connectors and one for a SATA or SSD hard drive. The accumulator can be replaced without tools – the special cover is simply removed with your fingers, so that the upgrade is available even for inexperienced users in terms of working with iron.
Unfortunately, there is no information about the price or the date of appearance of the device yet.
MINISFORUM UH185 Ultra
A small device with a built-in touchscreen – apparently, manufacturers will now produce more such devices. The screen displays information about the characteristics and operating modes of the device.
By the way, there is this device and a 1080p webcam with a special curtain that makes the image from the camera inaccessible. The shutter can be used when the camera is not in use.
In terms of specifications, the processor here is an Intel Core Ultra 185H Meteor Lake with integrated Intel Arc graphics. There are two SODIMM slots with support for up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and two M.2 slots for solid-state drives. As for ports and connectors, the device is equipped with 2.5 GbE Ethernet, USB4 (possibly Thunderbolt) and at least two USB Type-A ports. There is also a jack for a headset.
There is no information here either on the price or the release date, but we have to think that the device will soon go on sale if it was already shown at CES 2024.
This model is a ready-made device that can be purchased. It was announced back in June 2023 and is now on sale at a price of $769. For this price, the user gets a mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor, 32GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Now, by the way, you can buy with a discount of $150.
The mini-PC is quite small, its dimensions are 80 x 80 x 43 mm. It has an HDMI 2.1 port, two USB4 Type-C ports, as well as three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A. Supports up to 32GB of built-in dual-channel LPDDR5-6400 memory (which is not user-upgradable) and an M.2 2230 slot for a PCIe Gen 4 x1 solid-state drive.
The computer is equipped with an active cooling system, which is practically a mandatory feature for such a small computer with a 28 W processor.
Each of the computer’s USB4 ports supports data and video output. MINISFORUM EM780 supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless communication. As for wired networking, while the computer itself doesn’t have an Ethernet port, the MINISFORUM comes with a compact USB-C docking station with both Ethernet and USB-C ports.
The delivery of the device has already started, so it can be purchased.
